Beaufort High’s volleyball team ensured itself of a home match in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-14) win over Colleton County on Tuesday.
The Eagles are assured of at least a second-place finish in Region 7-4A and can earn a share of the region crown with a win at home against Hilton Head High on Thursday.
Beaufort benefited from a strong team effort against the Cougars. McCayla Willingham led the way with 10 kills and two blocks, Chase Vaigneur had seven kills, and senior Hailey Lamar had an outstanding night at the service line, going 15-of-16, and added six kills. Hannah Merchant had five kills, while setters Madison Gallion and Zyaire Middleton contributed four and two kills respectively.
All 12 players got playing time and contributed to the decisive win on senior night.
