HSFB: JPII Crushes Northwood To Stay Perfect In Region

John Paul II reeled off its fifth consecutive win and clinched a home playoff game with a 60-19 rout of visiting Northwood Academy on Friday.

The Golden Warriors led 47-7 at halftime and increased the margin to 60-7 in the third quarter before giving up a pair of late touchdowns.

Zach Doe rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries, Melik Frost added 84 yards and a TD on 10 carries, and Freddie Aiken rushed six times for 94 yards and two TDs to lead the JPII offense.

Sam Summa was 4-of-5 for 90 yards and two touchdowns and added five carries for 27 yards and a score on the ground. Reco Anderson and Mark Knight caught TD passes, and Rashad Battiste returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Frost anchored the defense with nine tackles, including two tackles for loss, and Jonathan Field added seven tackles (one TFL). Aiken had six tackles and forced and recovered a fumble, and Moxon Zehr added five tackles and a sack.

JPII (5-2, 3-0) has a bye week next week before traveling to Hilton Head Christian Academy for a region title showdown Oct. 19.
