HSFB: Short-handed Seahawks Still Slam Cavs

Even without a number of key starters, Hilton Head High was able to overwhelm visiting Christ Church in a 55-20 win on Friday.

Gaston Moore was 12-of-16 for 337 yards and five touchdowns — three to Jeff Gordon and two to Diante Richard — and Will Frith added 179 yards on 14 carries and two touchdown runs for the Seahawks. Richard finished with six catches for 172 yards and two scores and added 48 yards and a touchdown on three rushes. Gordon caught five passes for 155 yards and three TDs.

After the Seahawks grabbed a quick 13-0 lead, the Cavaliers pulled within 13-6 on a pair of field goals, but Moore led three scoring drives in the final seven minutes of the half. He connected with Richard for the second time to make it 20-6, then hit Gordon for a pair of TDs to give Hilton Head a 34-6 halftime advantage.

An interception set up Christ Church for a touchdown early in the second half, but Moore responded with a long scoring strike to Gordon and Frith put it away with two late touchdown runs.

The Seahawks (4-1) travel to Pooler, Ga., to face a strong New Hampstead team next Friday.
