HSVB: HHCA Goes 4-0, BHS Drops Tough Matches In Savannah

Hilton Head Christian Academy went 4-0 at the St. Vincent’s Academy Playdate on Saturday at Savannah Country Day.

HHCA opened the day with a 2-1 (23-25, 25-20, 18-16) win over Mount de Sales, as Sydney DeSimone collected 15 kills, 18 digs, and one block; Lauryn Qualls had nine kills and 14 digs; and Ady O’Grady added five kills, two blocks, and three digs.

The Eagles swept their next three matches, beginning with a 2-0 (25-20, 25-11) win over Landmark Christian. DeSimone again led the way with seven kills and eight digs; Qualls added five kills and seven digs; and Dior Shelton had three kills and a block.

HHCA’s third match was a 2-0 (25-11, 25-20) win over Savannah Country Day in which Qualls collected eight kills and a block, and O’Grady added three kills, seven digs, and four aces.

The Eagles closed out the afternoon with a 2-0 (25-22, 25-21) win over Glynn Academy with DeSimone racking up seven kills and 11 digs. O’Grady had five kills, five digs, and two blocks; Dior Shelton contributed four kills and four blocks; Qualls had four kills, six digs, two aces, and a block; and Amy Murphy added two blocks and a kill.

Beaufort High went 0-4 on the day, falling to Glynn Academy 2-0 (25-19, 25-21), Calvary Baptist 2-0 (25-20, 25-15), Savannah Country Day 2-0 (25-18, 28-26), and Mount de Sales 2-0 (25-18, 25-16).

Chase Vaigneur and Hannah Merchant notched 15 kills apiece to lead BHS on the day, while Olive Renforth added eight kills. Setters Zyaire Middleton and Madison Gallion directed the offense, and Hailey Lamar and McCayla Willingham combined for nine blocks.

HHCA hosts Savannah Country Day and Hilton Head High on Tuesday. BHS opens region play with a home match against Bluffton on Thursday.
