HSVB: Beaufort High Sweeps MRHS, BA In Opener

Beaufort High volleyball opened its season with a pair of sweeps, defeating May River and Beaufort Academy on Tuesday.

The Eagles beat May River 2-0 (25-9, 28-26) and downed BA 2-0 (25-14, 31-29). Hannah Merchant had 14 kills, McCayla Willingham added 13, and Hailey Lamar and Chase Vaigneur had seven apiece to lead the BHS attack. Peyton Polk and Sakura Simmons anchored the defense, and setters Madison Gallion and Zyaire Middleton played well.

BA salvaged a split with a 2-0 (25-18, 25-17) win over May River. EmilyAnn Hiers finished the night with 50 assists, nine kills, and six aces to lead the Eagles. Alyssa Patrick had eight kills, seven aces, and 25 digs.

BHS (2-0) hosts Battery Creek and Savannah Country Day for a tri-match Thursday. BA (2-1) travels to Cathedral Academy on Thursday.
