May River scored 34 unanswered points to roll to a season-opening 34-6 win over visiting Memorial Day on Friday.
The reigning GISA 2A state champion Matadors scored first on a long strike from Dre’Shawn Pinkson to West Virginia commit Winston Wright, but the Sharks dominated the rest of the rest of the night.
Brandon Morales scored two touchdowns – one rushing and one receiving – and Jack Hegan caught a pair of touchdown passes from Ahmad Green. Joseph Tapscott added a touchdown run to cap the scoring.
The Sharks (1-0) travel to crosstown rival Bluffton next Friday.
