One local team bowed out but another stayed alive on the second day of the Dixie Softball state tournaments Sunday at Oscar J. Frazier Park in Bluffton.
The Bluffton Ponytails (11-12) staved off elimination with a 14-8 win over Andrews, advancing to face Blythewood in another elimination game at 6 p.m. Monday. Florence and Union remained undefeated in the Ponytails division and will square off at 8 p.m. Monday.
The Bluffton Angels (9-10) lost for the second straight day, falling 12-8 to Byrnes in an elimination game. Aynor and Sumter stayed unbeaten in the Angels bracket and will meet at 8 p.m. Monday.
Georgetown and Lake Marion improved to 2-0 in the Belles (13-15) division and will meet at 8 p.m. Monday.
