Bluffton’s Sophia Burnett claimed one of four spots up for grabs in the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship during sectional qualifying Thursday at Beech Creek Golf Club in Sumter.
Burnett shot 2-under-par 70 to finish second among 47 players vying for four qualifying spots and two alternates.
Burnett will be among the field of 156 players under the age of 19 who will compete in the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship from July 16-21 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.
