After a one-year absence, the Hilton Head High girls’ soccer team is back in the state championship match.
The Seahawks punched their ticket to the Class 4A title match with a 5-2 win at Dreher on Monday, advancing to the state final for the seventh time in eight years.
Hannah Stanhope scored two goals, and Carson Schoeppe, Abby Lainhart, and Val Palacio each added a goal for the Seahawks, who scored three goals in the final 30 minutes to pull away.
The Seahawks will face Eastside for the state title Friday at Irmo High School in the teams’ third meeting in the championship game this decade. Hilton Head High beat Eastside in 2012 and 2013 as part of the Seahawks’ run of four straight Class 3A titles.
