Hilton Head Christian Academy will have to finish off its first-round playoff series at home after a 4-3 walk-off loss at Calhoun Academy on Tuesday.
The Eagles tied the game in the top of the seventh, but the Cavaliers scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the frame to even the series at a game apiece.
Michael Graupner went 2-for-3 with a homer and scored twice to lead the Eagles at the plate.
John Blackshire struck out 11 and walked six over six-plus innings, and he was charged with four runs (one earned) despite allowing just two hits.
Blackshire walked the leadoff man in the seventh before JD Monts came on in relief. After a passed ball and a sacrifice bunt moved the winning run to third, the Eagles intentionally walked the next two batters to load the bases and set up a force play at the plate, but Evan Inabinet drew the walk to force home the winning run.
HHCA (18-3) will host the deciding third game at 7 p.m. Thursday.
