Beaufort Academy ran away with the SCISA Class 1A state title Tuesday, winning by a whopping 69 shots at Hackler Golf Course in Conway to give coach Jeff Pinckney his first state championship.
The Eagles went into the final round with a huge lead and widened the gap even farther, following their opening 337 with a team score of 323 on Tuesday. BA’s team total of 660 easily outpaced Cambridge Academy (729).
BA boasted three of the top four individual finishers, as Joe Stowe (77-74—151) claimed medalist honors by five shots over Crown Leadership’s Johnny Velasquez (78-78—156) and teammates Jaxon Spratling (76-85—161) and Cal Harvey (83-78—161) tied for third. Trey Dean (101-86—187) and Jack Carter Worrell (103-99—202) rounded out the lineup for the Eagles.
Sea Pines Montessori’s Jeep Patrick (90-93—183) finished 15th.
