HS Baseball: DeMarzo’s Single Gives Seahawks Walk-Off Win Over Sharks

Cole DeMarzo’s RBI single with two outs in the seventh lifted Hilton Head High to a 7-6 win over visiting May River on Saturday.

DeMarzo was 2-for-5 with a run and knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh after the Sharks had tied it in the top half of the inning. Colin Gross had a double and two RBIs, Joey Kurkul was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Dean Seelbach was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Seahawks.

Vance Summers was 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs, Josh Patterson was 3-for-3, Logan Wake was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jeffrey Hodge was 2-for-3 for the Sharks.

Hunter Julseth picked up the win with two runs of relief, allowing one run and four hits.

The Seahawks (11-9) open the Class 4A playoffs at North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, while the Sharks (18-4) open the Class 3A playoffs at home Tuesday against an opponent to be determined.
