John Paul II’s boys lost in a shootout to last year’s state runner-up, Palmetto Christian Academy, on Friday.
The Eagles tied the match at 1 with a late goal and defeated the Golden Warriors 5-4 in six rounds of penalties.
Nic Richardson gave JPII the lead in the second half, converting an assist from Elijah Moreno. Moreno, Eric Sandoval, Noah Brock, and Ben Richardson converting penalty kicks in the shootout for JPII.
The Golden Warriors (4-5, 3-2) plays at Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6 p.m. Monday.
