HS Baseball: Seahawks Win Last Two Games In Home Tourney

Host Hilton Head High went 2-2 in the Seahawk Baseball Invitational this week, winnings its final two games after dropping its first two by a combined three runs.

The Seahawks opened the tourney with a 4-2 loss to Richmond Senior despite a 2-for-3 day from Dean Seelbach and a homer from Matt Mebane.

Mebane went 2-for-3 and Colin Gross was 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the Seahawks’ 4-3 loss to George Washington on day two.

On Wednesday, Hilton Head picked up its first win of the week, beating Chapman 11-1. Mebane had another big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, while Alex Morse was 3-for-3 and scored three runs, JJ Mlodzinski was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Cole DeMarzo drove in four runs.

The Seahawks wrapped up the week with a 5-3 win over Westwood on Thursday. Jacob Hussong pitched five innings for the win, allowing four hits and striking out six. Jeff Hays was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Cody Wan was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

The Seahawks (8-8) host May River at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
