HS Lax: Seahawk Boys Bounce Back To Beat Raptors

Hilton Head High boys’ lacrosse played one of its most complete games of the season in a 17-10 win over Academic Magnet on Wednesday.

Whit Molloy scored five goals and Jake Rader added four goals and an assist to lead the Seahawks’ attack. Also scoring for the Seahawks were Max Boyer (3 goals, 2 assists), Will Frith (2 goals, 2 assists), Colin Courtney (2 goals), and Alek Lazinski (1 goal).

“Offensively, we did an excellent job tonight,” Seahawks coach Will Callegari said. “We possessed the ball beautifully and really worked well for the best shots. It was an awesome group effort tonight.”

Team captain Courtney had one of his best games of the year, finishing with fifteen ground balls, one interception, and three takeaways to go along with his two goals. Jordan Singleton (6 GBs, 2 INTs, 3 TAs) and Garrison Geoffroy (2 GBs, 1 INT, 1 TA) also played well on defense, and goalie Chris Valentino made 10 saves.

At the faceoff X, Will Frith (11/11) and Hake Patrick (8/11) combined to dominate possession.

“Tonight was one of our best games all season,” Callegari said. “We challenged the boys to come out at the opening whistle firing, and then to keep that up for the entirety of the game. We did just that. Every player on this squad did their job tonight. From the starters to the sideline, the energy and effort was excellent.”

The Seahawks (7-3) host May River at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
