HS Soccer: JPII Boys Take Down Nemesis PCA

John Paul II boys’ soccer claimed a big region win Thursday, beating Palmetto Christian Academy 3-1 to avenge three losses last season.

Palmetto Christian opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but Sebastian Laverde answered on an assist from center back Ben Richardson to make it 1-1 at halftime.

Elijah Moreno earned a penalty kick and converted to give the Golden Warriors the lead, and eighth-grader Eric Sandoval made it 3-1 on an assist from Gabe Orta-Carrillo to cap the scoring.

Jonathan Barragan was outstanding in goal, making eight saves.

JPII (2-3, 1-1) plays a non-region home game against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 5:45 p.m. Monday.
