Conner Golden scored two goals and Tony Rodriguez posted a shutout in goal as May River boys’ soccer blanked Hilton Head Christian Academy 3-0 on Tuesday.
Golden opened the scoring the 13th minute off Joel Fleek’s seventh assist of the season and converted an assist from Mikey Chappelear in the 67th minute. Nick Lewis assisted on James Lucas’ goal in the 77th minute to cap the scoring for the Sharks, who matched last season’s win total with their fifth straight victory.
Rodriguez needed only four saves to preserve the clean sheet, as the Sharks controlled possession and limited the Eagles’ opportunities.
“Our boys did an excellent job tonight controlling the game and maintaining pressure in their final third,” May River coach Misael Garzon said. “We moved the ball extremely well and were able to take advantage of their weaknesses.”
May River (9-1) opens region play at 7 p.m. Friday at Wade Hampton. HHCA (1-2-1) hosts Hilton Head Prep at 6 p.m. Thursday.
