Battery Creek boys’ soccer rallied from an early two-goal deficit for a 3-2 win over John Paul II on Friday.
The Golden Warriors took the lead when Sebastian Laverde scored off an Elijah Moreno assist in the 30th minute, and Laverde forced the Dolphins into an own-goal on a hard cross in front of the net later in the half.
Ty’Zah White finished off an assist from Alex Cruz to pull Battery Creek within 2-1 at halftime, and the Dolphins took control in the second half. Joshua Moody scored the equalizer off an assist from Braden Beck, and Sonny Quintanilla’s assist set up Jordan Gwyn for the game-winner.
Battery Creek (1-1) travels to Wade Hampton for a Region 8-3A matchup at 7 p.m. Tuesday. JPII (1-1) hosts region rival Beaufort Academy on Monday.
