HS Soccer: Chappelear’s Hat Trick Powers Sharks Past Raiders

May River’s boys’ soccer team held on for a 3-2 win over Savannah Christian in the Sharks’ home opener Tuesday.

Mikey Chappelear scored three goals in the first half, and goalkeepers Tony Rodriguez and Robert Perez made the lead hold up. Rodriguez saved all three shots he faced, including a stop of a penalty kick, and Perez had one save on three shots.

Joel Fleek assisted on the second of Chappelear’s three goals. The Sharks outshot the Raiders 16-5 but couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities, hitting the post five times.

May River (5-1) hosts Beaufort High at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
