The USCB softball team picked up two more non-conference wins Saturday, beating Pikeville (Ky.) 15-4 and 5-1 to sweep a doubleheader.
The Sand Sharks jumped on the Bears for eight runs in the first inning of the opener and never let up, ending the game after five innings via the eight-run mercy rule. Every starter had at least one hit for USCB, as Kylie Kelly went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Haley Hawkins was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Maria Molloseau drove in three runs to lead the offensive outburst. Canyon Crosby earned the win in the circle and went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Abby Pac pitched a gem for the Sand Sharks in the second game, striking out four and walking one in a two-hitter while allowing just one unearned run. Kayle Boyle led USCB at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Kaila Billingsley was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Crosby drove in a run.
The Sand Sharks (11-3) are back in action Sunday, hosting Michigan-Dearborn for a doubleheader starting at noon.
