The May River boys’ lacrosse team opened the season with a 16-1 rout of visiting Beaufort High on Monday.
Jon Boan collected five goals and four assists, Braydon Sokolowski added three goals and four assists, and Luke Boan scored three goals to lead the Sharks. Seth Eaton scored twice, and Ethan Sotiropolous, Casey Simmons and Jacob Dinnan added a goal apiece.
Simmons helped the Sharks dominate possession by winning 88 percent of his faceoffs, Harrison Rogers led the team with seven ground balls, and goalie Sean Morris saved 11 of the Eagles’ 12 shots on goal.
The Sharks (1-0) host Hilton Head High at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the inaugural Pet Rescue Shootout to support Palmetto Animal League.
