HSBB: JPII Girls Earn First Playoff Win

John Paul II’s girls claimed the first postseason victory in program history with a 43-30 win over Oakbrook Prep in the first round of the SCISA Class 2A state tournament Friday in Sumter.

Abby Quinty scored a career-high 19 points to go with eight steals and six rebounds to lead the Golden Warriors. Tkai DeVore was limited to 10 points but grabbed six boards and had 14 steals to anchor JPII’s dominant defensive effort. Jasmine Hamilton added seven points, Abigail Barker had five points and nine rebounds, and Ayannah Thompson pulled down a team-high 11 boards.

“The girls played harder tonight than ever before and it paid off,” JPII coach Karen Floyd said. “I’m so proud of everyone’s effort.”

JPII (22-5) faces top-seeded Palmetto Christian at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Sumter Civic Center.
