Sand Shark Baseball Evens Record With Comeback Win

The USCB baseball team rallied late for a 10-5 win over visiting Paine College on Wednesday, evening the Sand Sharks’ record at 2-2.

USCB trailed 4-2 heading to the bottom of the fifth before erupting for a pair of four-run innings.

Tristan Triplett went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Hunter Helms was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kelvin Brito had a three-run triple to lead the USCB offense. Ryan McManus delivered a go-ahead RBI single as a pinch hitter in the fifth.

Javell Passley recorded two outs to earn the win in relief of Paxton Buckner, who gave up four runs (three earned) over 4 2/3 innings.

The Sand Sharks led 5-1 in the fourth inning of the second game of the scheduled doubleheader before heavy rain began to fall and cut the contest short.

The Sand Sharks open Sun Conference play this weekend, hosting 10th-ranked Keiser for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday.
