HSBB: JPII Boys Pull Away For 2nd Win Over BA In 3 Days (w/ video)

The John Paul II boys took advantage of a balanced effort to beat host Beaufort Academy 63-46 on Wednesday.

Amere Cherry collected 22 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals to lead the way for the Golden Warriors, while point guard Thomas Kender controlled the game and dished out seven assists to go with four steals.

“We got great contributions from everybody tonight. It was a total team effort,” JPII coach Stacy Benedik said. “We were able to build a nice lead with a good second quarter and extend it in the third, which allowed us to get our starters quite a bit of rest.”

Dawson Coleman scored 23 points, and Thomas Holladay and David Matthai added eight apiece for the Eagles.

Both teams are back in action Friday, as JPII (11-10, 7-2) travels to Hilton Head Prep and BA (6-9, 3-7) plays at Hilton Head Christian Academy.
