HSBB: Freshmen Lead JPII Boys In Rout Of Warhawks

John Paul II’s boys jumped out to a big lead early and rolled to a 71-50 over Colleton Prep on Friday.

A pair of freshmen led the way for the Golden Warriors, as Amere Cherry scored 18 points and Sam Summa added 13 points and eight rebounds. Melik Frost contributed six points and nine steals to fuel a strong defensive effort.

“It was a very good bounce back for us after Tuesday’s loss (to Bethesda),” JPII coach Stacy Benedik said. “Many times, when you have a tough loss like that, the team can hang their head and let one tough game turn into two. Our guys did not let that happen.

JPII (8-10, 5-2) hosts Beaufort Academy on Monday.
