HSBB: JPII Boys Drop Tough One At Lowcountry Leadership

John Paul II’s boys dropped a tough 60-52 decision at Lowcountry Leadership Charter on Friday.

Freshman Amere Cherry led JPII with 23 points, six rebounds, and four steals, while junior Rashad Battiste added 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Golden Warriors led by five at halftime but fell behind by two through three quarters and couldn’t keep pace after Battiste fouled out early in the fourth quarter.

“This was one of our best games of the year, regardless of the score,” JPII coach Stacy Benedik said. “That’s a really good team we played tonight. They are undefeated in their region and a contender for the Lower State championship. Our kids fought their tails off, and I am really proud of the way we battled.”

JPII (7-9, 3-1) returns to region play Saturday at Colleton Prep.
