HSBB: JPII Boys Fall Short In Tourney Final

The John Paul II boys came up short in their bid to win the 4m Metals Golden Warrior Holiday Classic, losing 69-49 to Cathedral Academy in Saturday’s title game.

The Golden Warriors led 16-10 after one quarter, but tournament Most Outstanding Player Christian Waring led Cathedral back.

Freshman Amere Cherry and junior Rashad Battiste were named to the all-tournament team for JPII. Cherry averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and four steals in two tournament games, while Battiste averaged 19 points and nine rebounds.

JPII (4-7) returns to action Wednesday with a region game at Colleton Prep.
