HSBB: BA, JPII Girls Advance To Title Game

Beaufort Academy and host John Paul II will meet in the girls championship game of the JPII Holiday Classic after both advanced with first-round wins Friday.

BA’s girls opened the tournament with a 33-20 win over Andrew Jackson, improving to 5-2 overall behind 11 points from Becca Frelin, 10 from Emily Ann Hiers, and six from Kendall Duncan.

The Golden Warriors (9-3) doubled up Patrick Henry 62-31 with four players scoring in double figures. Tkai DeVore led the way with 13, Abby Quinty and Ayannah Thompson added 12 apiece, and Jasmine Hamilton scored 10.

The Eagles and Golden Warriors meet in the championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
