“The Streak” was too much for Bluffton High School’s volleyball team to overcome.
For a second consecutive year, the Bobcats’ season ended with a Class 3A Lower State final loss to Bishop England, which beat Bluffton 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-11) on Monday and will try to win its 18th consecutive state championship when it faces Powdersville on Saturday.
After a runner-up finish in Region 8-3A, the Bobcats peaked in time for the playoffs and swept through the postseason in impressive fashion, claiming three straight 3-0 wins, including road victories over region champions Strom Thurmond and Waccamaw, to reach the Lower State final.
