Bluffton High School head football coach John Houpt was announced Saturday as one of the two head coaches for the inaugural Blitz Border Bowl, an all-star football game for high school seniors from the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire.

Houpt has begun assembling his coaching staff for the Lowcountry squad, and the staff soon will select a 40-team roster of standout seniors from the area. Houpt said his staff will consist of coaches from both public and private schools throughout the area. Richmond Hill coach Matt LeZotte will lead the Coastal Empire team, made up of all-stars from the Savannah area.

The inaugural game will be played Jan. 13 at Pooler Stadium with proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House. The game will be broadcast live on WSAV.
