JR Patterson rushed for two early touchdowns and Thomas Heyward pulled away late for a 29-14 win at Colleton Prep on Friday, clinching the SCISA Region 2-1A title.
Patterson’s touchdown runs of 26 and 11 yards and CJ Cleland’s 36-yard field goal gave the Rebels a 16-0 lead before Colleton Prep scored on the final play of the first half to trim the deficit to 16-8.
The Warhawks pulled within 16-14 with 9:10 remaining, but the Rebels stopped the two-point conversion to preserve the lead.
Logan Thomas hit Bobby Payne for a 44-yard touchdown to put the Rebels up 22-14, and Bryce Tillotson capped the scoring with an interception return for a score.
The Rebels (8-2, 4-0) have won seven straight heading into the SCISA Class 1A playoffs and will host Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach in the first round next week.
