Hilton Head Christian Academy’s Sydney DeSimone was named the Player of the Year, and Beaufort Academy’s Donna Patrick was voted Coach of the Year, highlighting the SCISA Region 4 volleyball awards announced Tuesday.
DeSimone was joined on the All-Region first team by teammates Lauryn Qualls and Brielle McCarthy, as well as John Paul II’s Abigial Barker, BA’s Alyssa Patrick, and Colleton Prep’s Langley Harter.
Hilton Head Prep’s Kelsey O’Connor, JPII’s Darby O’Donnell, HHCA’s Olivia Reichenbach, Thomas Heyward’s Ivy Bryan, BA’s EmilyAnn Hiers and Amelia Huebel, and Colleton Prep’s Welsin Jones made up the second team.
The double-elimination SCISA state tournament begins Friday at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. In the Class 2A bracket, Hilton Head Christian is the No. 1 seed in its four-team pod in the Lower Bracket and will face Northside Christian at 1:30 p.m. Hilton Head Prep is a No. 4 seed and will take on Thomas Sumter, and JPII is a No. 2 seed in the Upper Bracket and faces The King’s Academy in the first round.
BA is a No. 1 seed in the Class 1A Lower Bracket and takes on Cambridge Academy in the first round at noon Friday.
