The Beaufort County All-Stars claimed another lopsided victory Sunday in the Dixie Boys (14U) World Series.
The host team routed Texas 19-7 on Sunday night at Oscar Frazier Park, giving Beaufort County two run-rule victories in as many games.
Daniel Keber blasted a grand slam to invoke the 10-run mercy rule, while Zack Morillo was 2-for-3 with a two-run single, Harrison Green had an RBI double, a walk, and a sacrifice bunt, and Oliver Holmes was 2-for-3.
“Once again it was a total team effort all the way to the courtesy runners for the pitchers and catchers,” coach Brian Laing said.
Laing’s team, which has scored 31 runs in two games, receives a bye into the 7 p.m. game Monday, which should be a huge advantage in terms of pitching depth.
In the Dixie Junior Boys (13U) World Series, Beaufort County was dealt a 16-6 defeat by Louisiana, knocking the host team out of the double-elimination bracket.
Play continues in both brackets starting at 1 p.m. Monday at Oscar Frazier Park and M.C. Riley Sports Complex.
