Mancill Leads Locals With Top-10 Finish At S.C. Amateur

Hilton Head Island’s Travis Mancill tied for 10th to lead a large local contingent in the South Carolina Golf Association’s 86th S.C. Amateur Championship, which concluded Sunday at Florence Country Club.

Mancill, a recent Hilton Head Island High School graduate who will play at Erskine College this season, finished the 72-hole event at 1-over-par 281, nine shot behind champion Gregg Jones of Florence. Jones edged Columbia’s Ryan Marter and North Charleston’s RJ Keur by two shots.

Hilton Head’s Nick Russell (284) tied for 23rd, while Hilton Head’s Tate Hoisington (286) tied for 32nd, Bluffton’s Ben Dietrich (288) tied for 38th, Bluffton’s Connor Moore (290) tied for 44th, Hilton Head’s RJ Bartolomucci (292) tied for 48th, Beaufort’s Josh Fickes (293) tied for 52nd, and Bluffton’s Alec Weary (299) tied for 65th.
