Hilton Head Prep girls soccer faced its toughest test of the young season but came away with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Calvary Day on Wednesday in Savannah.
Calvary struck quickly within the first five minutes, but senior Katie Campbell converted a cross from Ella Clark to deliver the equalizer for the Dolphins before halftime.
HHP scored twice in the second half to take control, as Clark punched a rebound into the back corner of the net and Campbell sent a direct kick over the outstretched arms of the Cavs’ goalkeeper to add a brace.
Calvary responded with an all-out attack and pulled one back with six minutes left, but Prep’s defensive front of Ashlyn Parsick, Haley Majors, Bryn Miller, and Alexis Terry held strong to deny the Cavaliers the equalizer. Emily Brothers made seven saves to preserve the one-goal margin for HHP.
The Dolphins (3-0) host St. Vincent’s Academy on Thursday.
