Sully Gay poured in 23 points while dominating on the glass, and Beaufort Academy boys basketball cruised to a 64-44 win over Northside Christian on Saturday in the opening round of the SCISA 2A playoffs at Orangeburg Prep.
Gay turned in another outstanding performance to lead the Eagles, scoring 23 points while grabbing double-digit rebounds. Reliable guard Braydon Dineen stayed hot with 13 key points, and center Amarion Wilson scored 10.
“We came out of the gate a little slow but made some halftime adjustments,” BA coach Nick Field said. “The boys responded well and executed very well. Sully Gay and Braydon Dineen refused to lose and everyone followed suit. A lot of tough local teams went down today. We are proud to try to keep it going for the Lowcountry.”
Beaufort Academy (32-7) faces Spartanburg Day in the SCISA 2A quarterfinals at 5 p.m Tuesday at Cardinal Newman.
