Hilton Head Prep boys basketball went into the postseason on a high note Tuesday, pulling away from visiting John Paul II for an 80-53 win to finish with an undefeated mark in SCISA Region 4.

The Golden Warriors hung in for most of the night, trailing 36-27 at the half and cutting the margin to six early in the third, before the Dolphins found another gear and turned it into a rout.
Sean Cusano put up another incredible line with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists, and JJ Hayes also recorded a double-double with 20 points, 12 boards, and three steals to lead the Dolphins. Kane Eanes drained three 3-pointers en route to 16 points, and Ryan Mikell contributed seven points, four assists, and two steals.
JPII’s guards had a big night, but the Dolphins’ depth and size eventually wore down the Golden Warriors. Jackson Ogden led JPII with 23 points and three assists, and Mark Knight added 10 points and four rebounds.
Hilton Head Prep (20-3) and JPII (13-9) will open the SCISA playoffs on Saturday with the Dolphins facing Laurence Manning to open the Class 3A playoffs while the Golden Warriors face Pee Dee Academy in the first round of the Class 2A bracket.
