John Paul II girls basketball played its best game of the season but came up short on the road Monday, falling 41-32 at Northwood Academy.

The Golden Warriors played terrific defense and worked to get open looks on offense while taking a 21-19 lead into the locker room at halftime, but the Chargers used their defensive pressure in the second half to pull ahead and hold on for the win.
“This was the best our girls have played all season, and I couldn’t be more proud of their effort and growth,” JPII coach Karen Floyd said. “The girls all played so well.”
Maddie Heathcott had nine points and nine rebounds, and Brady Mahoney added eight points and 10 boards while leading a strong defensive effort for JPII. Cayce Graves chipped in six points and five rebounds.
JPII (5-6, 3-2) hosts Holy Trinity on Friday.
