HSGBB: Warriors power past Phoenix, keep pace in region race

Whale Branch girls basketball breezed to a 42-22 region road win at Palmetto Scholars on Wednesday to stay in second place in Region 7-1A. 

Kynew Barnwell scored 11 of her game-high 24 points in the first quarter as the Warriors got off to a quick start and led 28-12 at halftime. Whale Branch limited the Phoenix to three points in the third quarter to balloon the lead to 24 points. 

Erin Rivers added 10 points for Whale Branch, which has won four straight. 

The Warriors (12-6, 5-2) travel to Lowcountry Leadership for a region game Friday.
