May River girls basketball’s second-half comeback fell short Friday against visiting Lucy Beckham, as the Bengals escaped with a 35-30 road win in Region 7-4A play.

The Bengals led by five after the first quarter but surged ahead with a sensational second quarter to take a 26-11 halftime lead. May River began to make a comeback during the third quarter, cutting the margin to seven points heading to the final period, but Lucy Beckham held off the Sharks down the stretch.
Logan Collins scored 15 points and Virginia Byrd contributed 14 to lead Lucy Beckham. Morgan Scott put up 16 points to lead the Sharks.
May River (5-7, 1-3) plays at Beaufort High on Tuesday.
