After a convincing victory over Hanahan on Tuesday night, Battery Creek couldn’t find the same success against Bishop England on Friday, as the Dolphins suffered their first region loss 54-23 at the Palace.
Ashante Shaw led the Dolphins with eight points and 13 rebounds while Kiara Wilson added six points while Sophia Felix had five.
BE’s stiff defense kept Creek off the board through the first six-plus minutes of the opening quarter before Felix ended Bishop England’s 9-0 run with an 11-footer off the wing. Down eight starting the second quarter, the Dolphins worked themselves into the bonus but couldn’t take advantage.
BC’s offense continued to struggle through the remainder of the quarter, going without a field goal as Creek’s three points came off free throws from Carolina Alvarez and Shaw.
The third period started off poorly for the Dolphins as they couldn’t contain the Bishops, who went on a 16-0 run to begin the quarter. Wilson got Creek on the board, scoring four points on back-to-back possessions, but the Bishops couldn’t be stopped, scoring 20 points to the Dolphins six.
The fourth quarter didn’t fare too well for Creek as the Bishops ran away with the game.
Battery Creek (6-9, 2-1) will travel to Oceanside on Tuesday.
