Thomas Heyward boys basketball erased most of a 24-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels’ remarkable rally came up just short in a 58-55 home loss to Bethesda Academy on Tuesday.

THA trailed 40-23 at halftime and 53-29 entering the final period, but the Rebels nearly did the unthinkable, pulling within a bucket before the Blazers doused their hopes of the comeback of a lifetime.
Tony O’Banner had 19 points, seven rebounds, and five steals, and Brandon Howard scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Rebels. Joshua Quarterman scored 17 points, and Israel Wright had 13 for the Blazers.
THA (6-3, 1-1) hosts Holy Trinity on Thursday.
