Damien Bee posted a triple-double and Zaire Nelson had a big night as Bridges Prep boys basketball rebounded from back-to-back region losses for an 80-67 home win over Branchville on Friday.
With key players Desmond Locke and Jeremiah Ponder still sidelined by injuries, Bee put it on his own shoulders to end the Bucs’ brief skid, racking up 25 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals to lead an impressive offensive showing from Bridges.
Zaire Nelson poured in 22 points to go with five steals, and Matthew Torres scored 13 points for the Bucs. Bridges big men Davion Washington (7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks) and Tony Jones (4 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks) helped the Bucs command the paint.
Bridges raced out to a 28-11 lead after one quarter and bumped it up to a 19-point margin at the half. The Yellowjackets made a bit of a push in the second half, but the Bucs’ lead was never in danger.
Bridges (12-4, 2-2) continues region play at Royal Live Oaks on Tuesday.
