With room on their schedule after several forfeits, Beaufort Academy boys basketball was happy to accommodate The Complete Student’s request for a non-region game Tuesday, but the Eagles weren’t so hospitable on the court, as freshman Amarion Wilson broke the school record with 42 points and grabbed an incredible 22 rebounds in a 98-12 rout of the Swamp Rabbits.
It was the final tune-up before starting region play for the Eagles, and they were sharp from the start against the overmatched Swamp Rabbits, leading 28-2 after one quarter and 59-2 at halftime.
Wilson was the only Eagle who played more than 16 minutes, giving coach Nick Field 20 minutes off the bench. He might have come out earlier, but Field wanted to give him a chance at reaching Kevin Williams’ school record of 39 points. The freshman big man feasted in the paint with the majority of his scoring coming from his 16 offensive rebounds.
Sully Gay scored 15 points in 14 minutes for BA, while Braydon Dineen had an efficient night with 12 points, six boards, seven steals, and eight deflections in 16 minutes. Gavin Midyette contributed 10 points and five boards, and Zeke Gonzalez had eight points, five assists, and four steals.
BA (20-4) opens SCISA Region 4 play at Hilton Head Christian Academy on Friday.
