Colleton County girls basketball rebounded quickly from a tough region-opening loss with an impressive road victory Wednesday, downing Hanahan 52-37.
The Cougars opened a 14-13 lead after one period and grew the margin to six points at the halftime break. Hanahan trimmed the deficit to 36-31 going into the fourth, but Colleton County dominated the rest of the way to close the game on a 16-6 run.
Shandi Brown led a balanced Cougar scoring effort, posting a stellar line of 17 points, seven rebounds, and six steals. Bethany Monroe shined on both ends with 16 points and five steals, while Makayla Chisolm notched 14 points and seven boards.
Colleton County (8-3, 0-1) has won eight of its last nine games and travels to Lucy Beckham on Friday for a key region contest.
