HSGBB: Jags turn tables on Sharks in second half

After a disastrous first half Friday at May River, Ridgeland-Haardeeville’s girls put it all together at both ends of the floor after the break to surge to a 32-26 road win over the Sharks.

Daisy Taylor scored 11 points, Sanay Patterson added 10, and Ashiana Scott and Janiyah Chaneyfield both hit big 3-pointers during a pivotal third quarter for the Jaguars. 

May River controlled the first half, leading 15-8 at the break but leaving numerous points on the foul line to keep the Jags in it. It was more of the same in the second half for the Sharks, who could get the ball inside to Morgan Scott but couldn’t convert at the foul line. May River was 12-of-38 from the line.

Meanwhile, the Jaguar backcourt pressured May River’s young guards and used RHHS used its athleticism to create opportunities in transition and claw back into it, outscoring the Sharks 14-2 in the third quarter and grinding out a tough road win.

Scott scored a game-high 19 points but knew it could have been a much bigger night after going 9-for-24 from the foul line. Kennedy Palmer added four points for the Sharks.

RHHS (2-5) travels to Savannah High on Tuesday. May River (3-3) was back in action Saturday against Effingham County.
