HSGBB: Sharks come up short vs. Savannah Country Day

May River girls basketball gave another strong defensive effort Tuesday, but the Sharks couldn’t muster enough at the offensive end in a 36-22 home loss to Savannah Country Day.

The Sharks played the Hornets even in the first quarter, but they managed only two points in the second period while Savannah Country Day opened up a 16-7 halftime lead.

May River couldn’t stop Hornets star Abby Nicholson, who scored 17 points to help SCD pull away after halftime.

Morgan Scott scored eight points, Macey Dowe added five, and Page Mullis had four for the Sharks.

May River (3-2) hosts Ridgeland-Hardeeville on Friday.
