HSBBB: Sharks can’t slow down Rebels’ attack in home loss

May River boys basketball couldn’t keep up with Savannah’s Groves High on Saturday at home, falling 71-49 to the Rebels.

Groves ran out to an 18-9 lead after one quarter and extended it to 32-18 by halftime before outscoring the Sharks 22-6 in the third quarter to break it open.

Kenya Williams scored 18 points, Tremaine Johnson added 17, and Jerald Colonel had 10 to lead the Rebels.

Mitchell Leroux led May River with 10 points, while Gavin Blocker added nine, James Layman had eight, and Jaiden Jones contributed seven.

The Sharks (3-2) host Savannah Country Day on Tuesday in their third straight matchup with a Georgia opponent.
