Beaufort Academy’s girls turned in a solid season-opening performance Friday under new head coach Andrew Ienuso, defeating host Cathedral Academy 56-48 to advance to the Battle of the Lowcountry championship game.
Sophomore Kamirah Freeman impressed with a team-high 24 points, while Mike’Ala Washington opened her junior year with 15. Mary Hanna Hiers finished in double figures with 14 points, and Tahleea Heyward added eight.
Beaufort Academy (1-0) faces Stall in the championship game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
