Hilton Head Prep volleyball outlasted a fiery Colleton Prep squad for a 3-1 home win Tuesday, earning a season split with the War Hawks.
The Dolphins came out strong, winning the first two sets 25-12 and 25-18 to take control of the match, but the War Hawks didn’t go quietly. Colleton Prep rallied for a 25-23 win in the third set before HHP bounced back to close it out 25-16.
HHP took advantage of 16 aces, including four each from Ashley Wilmot and Ella Clark, and excellent hitting. Wilmot led the attack with 13 kills, while Anna Scott added nine, and Gracie Palumbo-Alkire made her presence known with six kills and five blocks.
Gabby Bettez dished out 18 assists and Clark added 17 to run a balanced HHP offense, as Haylee Hopman and Haley Majors added five kills each. Hopman also had a team-high 18 digs, and Wilmot added 12.
Taylor Tomedolskey led CPA with eight kills, while Caroline Kinard added seven kills and nine digs, and Jessica Hughes contributed six kills. Emily Wilson passed out 24 assists, and Linley Jones led the defensive effort with 17 digs.
HHP (19-6-3, 6-4) hosts Beaufort Academy for a region matchup Wednesday. CPA (11-7-1, 5-4) travels to Holy Trinity to continue region play Thursday.
